The Balance DEI and Safety Statement

At The Balance, we are dedicated to providing essential support and resources to young adults in need, with a focus on humanitarian relief. Our mission is rooted in the belief that every young person deserves access to opportunities that help them overcome life’s challenges and build a brighter future. As a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, we work to offer a wide range of services designed to address the unique needs of at-risk and homeless youth. While we respect all religious beliefs, we are not a religious organization; our focus is purely on offering compassionate, non-denominational support to those we serve. We prioritize diversity, equity, and inclusion in all aspects of our work, ensuring that every individual, regardless of their background, identity, or circumstance, is treated with respect, dignity, and fairness. We are committed to fostering a welcoming and inclusive environment where all youth can thrive, and we actively work to create opportunities for those who have been historically marginalized or overlooked.

Through collaboration with other qualified organizations, we strive to connect those we serve with additional resources that further their growth and well-being. At The Balance, we are driven by a core mission to make a lasting impact on the lives of young people, offering both immediate and long-term solutions to help them thrive.

In order to preserve the integrity and safety of our community, we maintain the discretion to limit or discontinue services to individuals whose actions present a potential risk to others. This includes, but is not limited to, those with a history of violent behavior, particularly those who have engaged in extreme acts of aggression, individuals with a history of serious criminal offenses, especially those of a sexual nature, or individuals whose actions are motivated by self-serving interests, whether religious or secular. Our foremost priority is to ensure a secure and nurturing environment for all those we serve.

While we remain committed to offering valuable resources and support, it is important to clarify that The Balance is not an emergency response entity. In situations that require urgent attention, we encourage individuals to utilize the appropriate emergency systems designed for such matters. Furthermore, we cannot be held liable for any incidents or circumstances arising between individuals who meet through our programs, particularly those occurring outside of The Balance's direct involvement or the confines of our services. It is essential to recognize that our role is to facilitate access to resources and support, but we do not assume responsibility for events that occur beyond the scope of our programs.
