Therapy Referral Program
The Balance is dedicated to helping homeless and at-risk youth in both the U.S. and Israel access trauma therapy through our Therapy Placement Program. For teens already enrolled in our programs, we facilitate referrals to highly qualified therapists who specialize in treating trauma. One of the core therapies we connect our youth to is EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing). This evidence-based therapy is particularly effective for processing and healing from traumatic experiences. By connecting teens with EMDR therapists, we provide them with a vital tool to address and reframe painful memories, allowing them to move forward in their recovery with greater emotional stability and resilience.
In addition to EMDR, The Balance also refers youth to assault trauma therapy, which is essential for those who have experienced physical, emotional, or sexual assault. This specialized therapy focuses on helping teens process the complexities of assault-related trauma, providing them with strategies to heal and regain control over their lives. Assault trauma therapy empowers youth to work through the emotional impact of their experiences, helping them to overcome feelings of shame, guilt, and fear, while developing healthier coping mechanisms for the future. We connect each teen with licensed therapists who are equipped to provide the care they need to recover from the scars left by abuse.
Through our Therapy Placement Program, we partner with a network of organizations who connect our teens with therapists and trauma specialists in both the U.S. and Israel. Our team carefully matches each teen with a support network which can best address their unique needs, ensuring they receive the appropriate care and attention. We provide ongoing support by assisting with logistics, such as scheduling appointments and helping with any barriers to accessing therapy, including location, cost, or transportation issues. This personalized approach ensures that every teen receives the right level of care to facilitate their healing journey.
By enrolling in The Balance's programs, homeless and at-risk youth are given the opportunity to access crucial trauma therapy services like EMDR and assault trauma therapy. While The Balance does not provide therapy directly, we work tirelessly to connect our youth with the specialized care they need. Your support enables us to continue offering these essential referrals, empowering teens to break free from the trauma that has held them back and guiding them toward a healthier, more stable future.
